Ski & Snowboard Resort Review

Located in the Northern Italian Dolomite mountain ranges Cortina d'Ampezzo ITALY is an exclusive and popular resort with magnificent views of the surrounding mountain peaks and a very reliable snow record.

Cortina Skiing and Snowboarding Terrain

The skiing and snowboarding terrain at Cortina is split into six different interlinked areas;

1. Faloria
2. Cristallo
3. Mietres
4. Tofana
5. Cinque Torri
6. Falzarego-Lagazuoi

All are supported by a fast modern and efficient lift system.

Overall 62% of the terrain is suited to intermediates, 33% to beginners and 5% suited for advanced skiers and snowboarders. Expect to find extremely long linking groomed trails, wide open powder bowls and gentle beginner areas.

Cortina is included in the world famous interconnected Dolomiti Superski Pass covering over 1,200 kilometres of skiing and snowboarding terrain in the Dolomites.

The hands free Dolomiti Superski Pass encompasses the following twelve ski areas; Cortina d'Ampezzo, Kronplatz, Alta Badia, Val di Fassa/Carezza, Arabba/Marmolada, Alta Pusteria, Val di Fiemme/Obereggen, San Martino di Castrozza/Passo Rolle, Valle Isarco, Tre Valli - Moena/P.sso S. Pellegrino/Falcade, Civetta and Val Gardena

Advanced Skiing and Snowboarding at Cortina

Advanced skiers and snowboarders head to the powder filled cliffs and chutes that drop down to the Olimpia trail. They test fast turning ability in deep powder snow.

The Olimpia trail in the Tofana Area hosts a World Cup Downhill competition every year. The trail is very steep and fast and heavily moguled in some parts.

Go to the Cristallo Area for some breakneck GS turns on the steep Canalone Staunies trail.

Extreme skiing and snowboarding tours are available at Cortina. Professional guides take snowriders to the best off piste powder spots in the surrounding Dolomite mountain ranges. It is not wise to venture too far off piste by yourself as there are some seriously large cliff drops and crevasses in the area.
