Daylight saving time provides extra hour to get ready for winter at Whistler Blackcomb

WHISTLER, BC, October 29, 2006 – With snow in Whistler Village and 25 days until Whistler and Blackcomb Mountain officially open for the winter season, it's safe to say Daylight Saving's extra hour will be spent prepping, not snoozing.

"This time of year is always full of excitement and anticipation," says Stuart Rempel, Whistler Blackcomb's senior vice president of marketing and sales. "As soon as the temperature starts to drop and the clouds roll in, the fervor for the start of the season begins to build. Fueled by this anticipation, everyone at Whistler Blackcomb is cranking it up a notch, as we put the finishing touches on the mountains, getting ready for the season ahead."

Whistler Blackcomb offers some suggestions of what to do with your extra hour today:

* Get the pass – Early bird deadline for EDGE Cards is November 15.
* Get the deal – Book a visit to Whistler Blackcomb by November 15 and save up to 36 per cent on lodging and lift tickets. Book by November 15, and receive a free ski or snowboard lesson.
* Get the gear - visit the new Glacier Shop in Whistler Village for the latest ski gear and casual wear.
* Get stoked – the new Symphony Express high speed quad construction is on track and will open this December. Ride to the peak of Piccolo on Whistler Mountain and experience the vast open bowls, deep powder and gladed finales of the Symphony Amphitheatre.

Whistler Blackcomb's official opening day is November 23. Please visit us at to view the snow on our web cams, see construction updates for the new Symphony Express, and find out more about Whistler Blackcomb's special offers and upcoming events.
